White Wave Foods Summer Party at the Zoo

An evening of food, music, animals and carousel rides was planned for WWF employees and family and friends. Unfortunately, Denver was hit with a thunder and lightning storm on the evening of the party. We still went to the zoo, but the storm put a bit of a damper on the party plans.

Here is Olivia with an elephant and her safari hat and binoculars. We'll have to take her back to the zoo soon so we can explore and stay dry.

A Trip to the Mountains

In order to escape the heat of the city, Olivia and I took Jason and my Dad and Kiki up to the mountains. We once again went to Estes Park and to Rocky Mountain National Park. This time we drove all the way up to Trail Ridge Road and to the Alpine Summit. We saw the most amazing views of the surrounding mountains.

(Olivia is checking out the mountains behind us!!)

Big Girl Seat

Now that Olivia is almost 20 pounds and is over a year old, we have moved her into a big girl car seat. She loves her new seat with the pretty flowers. Now that she's in a big girl seat, she is facing forward and can watch the world around her as we drive around town.

Happy 7th Anniversary!

On July 14th, we celebrated our 7th anniversary with our sweet little girl!
We also enjoyed dinner and a great game of dominoes with my Mom, Pete and Tara.

First Adventure in a Big Pool

While Papa and Nana were here went to Rara's pool. It was Olivia's first time in a big pool. She seemed to enjoy the water just as much as when she's in her little pool at home. We had a fun day together enjoying the sunshine. The pool water was needed relief from the scorching heat!

Estes Park ~ Rocky Mountain National Park

While Papa and Nana were visiting Olivia and I joined them for a day in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. We had lunch in Estes Park and then drove into the park. The scenery was breathtaking and although we got rained on several times, it was such a nice day.

Some beautiful yellow flowers along the way.

One Year Check-up

Olivia used to love going to the doctor and would smile and cuddle up with the nurses and her doctor. Those days are gone. She was already crying by the time I put her on the scale to be weighed. Poor girl didn't know she had three shots coming later in the appointment. She should have saved those tears!

The Big Birthday Bash

On Saturday, the 7th, we celebrate our little one's first year of life with many of our closest friends and family. The afternoon was filled with first bites of cake, presents, laughter and love.

The party was made extra special from several faraway guests ... Papa & Nana Turner from San Diego, Calfornia ~ Papa & Grandma Stephens from San Diego, California ~ Jen & Dave from San Diego, California ~ Sam & John from New York, New York

Those of you who were unable to attend...we missed you! Thank you to everyone, both near and far, who made Olivia's first birthday so special.

Fiesta!

Our dear friends, Doug and Erin, had a Mexican fiesta the Friday after the 4th of July. Here is our chica in her authentic Mexican dress. (Courtesy of Rara who bought the dress for Olivia in Mexico.)

Happy 4th of July!

Although this is not officially Olivia's first 4th of July, it felt like it. Last year at this time, Olivia was only one day old and we were still in the hospital. This year we went to an annual BBQ in Papa and Gigi's neighborhood. Then Olivia had some pool time in her stars and stripes bikini. To end off the day, we watched the Indian Hills fireworks display laying on a hill in Pence Park. It was spectacular and Olivia sat in Papa's lap through almost the entire show. She was a tropper...we didn't get home until 11pm!

Happy 1st Birthday, Olivia!

We spent Olivia's big day with Auntie and Gigi. We went to BJ's for lunch and then to the Butterfly Pavilion where Olivia got to see all kinds of creepy crawlies from bees to spiders to butterflies. In the atrium, she was more interested in the plants than the butterflies. Then Dada, Papa, Gra-pa Marty and Rara joined us for dinner, presents and Olivia's first bite of ice cream. Happy Birthday to our big girl!!
